The G2H Pro is back on sale. Comparison with the G2H camera

These two devices are incredibly similar to each other, but let’s figure out together how they differ. So, let’s start in order.

Hardware

Aqara Camera Hub G2H Pro didn’t get the prefix Pro for nothing, mostly the changes affected the hardware of the device. And, first of all, it touched the updated chip, now the hub can connect up to 128 daughter devices and sensors Aqara, and G2H – only up to 32. Also, the Pro version will get support for the latest Smart Home standard Matter, which should launch by the end of 2023.

Camera

The lens has undergone a number of changes: the angle of the new camera became even wider and amounted to 146 ° against 140 ° in the old version of the device;
thanks to the absence of distortion correction, the picture with 1080p sensor has become sharper;
the microphone has also been improved and now features noise reduction.
New video functionality

New features have been added to the camera’s settings menu:

privacy zones, which are customizable in the app and serve to mask areas you don’t want to capture;
timelapse, which means taking photos with intervals between shots that are combined into a single video clip – you get an accelerated video, for example, a whole day’s worth of video;
custom tunes: G2H Pro can play back downloaded recordings and use them in automations.
Compatibility

In addition to HomeKit, G2H Pro also supports Amazon Alexa and Google Home, including streaming to smart displays and connecting compatible children to HomeKit, Alexa, Google Assistant, and other devices.
